The C.R.E.A.M strategy for learning



C.R.E.A.M stands for:

C - creative
Have the confidence to use your individual strategies and styles, applying imagination to your learning.

R - reflective
Be able to sit with your experience, analyse and evaluate your own perfomance, and draw lessons from it.

E - effective
Organise your space, time, priorities, state of mind and resources, to the maximum benefit.

A -active
Be personally involved and doing things, physically and mentally, in order to make sense of what you learn.

M - motivated
Be aware of your own desired outcomes; keep yourself on track using short - and long term 'goals'.



C.R.E.A.M Strategy
  • Giving more freedom to my imagination
Spend more time to plan an assignment before starting to do it. Let my imaginations act while I am planning.
  • Finding ways to increase my enjoyment in study
Study while listening to music or study with a friend so that I could enjoy my studies more.
  • Personalizing what I learn, and the way I study it
Take notes during lectures, rewrite the notes in my own words and read it next time in the near future.
  • Being flexible in study strategies and having plenty of variety
Try different way of studying or make some changes in the studying area. Example, try different places to study with different situation (my quiet bedroom or my busy living room)
  • Reflecting on my learning, and evaluating my progress
Always monitor myself. See how much has my skill grow, is it too slow? See whether I understand every lesson learn, if not why couldn’t I understand it? Find a solution
  • Organizing time and space, and being in the right state of mind for study
Have a schedule in mind when to study or do an assignment. Prepare the right and enough motivation to study so that my mind would concentrate and the result will be satisfying.
  • Seeing where I waste effort by being over-virtuous
Learn how to be satisfied after working hard and giving everything for an assignment.
  • Linking learning in one subject to other subjects and to real-life issues
After learning something from lessons, think more about it in a real-life situation. Think what can you do with it? Is it a good or bad thing?
  • Increasing my motivation
Always find or think things that motivates. When motivation is high, all works will be done.
  • Formulating clear outcomes and sub-goals
Have a clear view of goals or decide on goal. Goals is one form of motivation
